Influencer Strategy

According to research, leveraging six different sources of influence to work in your favor, influencers increase their odds of success tenfold. (Grenny & Patterson, 2013)  Failure to do so can be a costly oversight, as any one of the six sources has the potential to make or break a change strategy.

The overall result I desire to achieve with my proposed program is to create a video-based announcements platform that can be used in a K-12 environment to increase communication, camaraderie, and engagement among students and faculty.

Planned Measured Results

Survey Polling

  •  Survey students' and staff overall feedback before, during, and after implementation.

  • Survey the types of announcement videos students and teachers find most helpful.

Data Tracking & Collection

  • Tracking the number of video announcements.

  • Detailed analytics of each video.

  • Observing classrooms during morning announcements to analyze student engagement levels.

  • Tracking attendance rates before and after implementation to see if there is any change in punctuality.

  • Comparing test scores from before and after implementation to look for patterns or changes and their correlation to the learning segments.

Focus Groups & Observation

  • Observing classrooms during morning announcements to analyze student engagement levels.

  • Conducting focus groups with stakeholders to get feedback on the overall effectiveness.

Behavioral Change

Vital behaviors that are expected to be changed after implementing video-based announcements into a K-12 learning environment include:

  • Changing the overall behavior of students and faculty regarding morning announcements.
  • Increase student engagement by introducing facial expressions and body language.

  • Empower leaders, teachers, students, and parents with new opportunities for effective real-time communication.

  • Open up academic opportunities for students who miss out due to illness or other unfortunate circumstances.

  • Improved student focus and engagement during lessons.

  • Increased opportunities for visual learners, auditory learners, and disability-impaired learners.

  • Increase student information retention.

  • Create a sense of community in the school as students can see their peers and classmates featured in them regularly.

Six Sources of Influence

Goal: Implement video-based morning announcements in all district K-5 elementary classrooms.

Success: Success in our goal is acknowledged when implementation exists in more than 95% of district elementary campuses.

Reflection

Staying Motivated: Reflection on Six Sources of Influence

It's hard to believe that just a short time ago, the world was a very different place. It feels like every day, something in the world of creativity and content creation changes - whether it's a small thing like the way we communicate with each other, or a big thing like the way our society is structured. When you really think about it, all of these changes can be traced back to six sources: motivation and ability, personal and social, and structural.

All six of these sources are important for staying motivated and achieving your goals. Having a clear goal is essential for knowing what you need to do and staying on track. However, simply having a goal is not enough – you also need to feel competent in your ability to achieve it. This comes from both personal belief in yourself as well as social support from others who believe in you.
