CONTRIBUTION TO YOUR LEARNING AND THE LEARNING COMMUNITY - FALL SESSION 2: 2022
In the era of continuous digital transformation, having proficient knowledge and skills to lead effectively in a digitized environment is essential. The course Leading Organizational Change provides me with an understanding of how to direct organizational change initiatives successfully. Through this course, I can better analyze factors contributing to successful transformations and strategies for overcoming resistance during changes. Furthermore, the course Resources Digital Environments has provided additional support by allowing me to explore emerging technologies regarding educational resources and evaluate their practicality from various perspectives. With these courses under my belt, I have gained increasingly adaptable abilities necessary for leading organizations through any transition suitable for personnel or educational institutions!
What worked through my journey this semester?
This semester, I achieved great success in advancing my project of implementing video-based morning announcements into an elementary learning environment. Both courses, helped me establish excellent strategies for making technology integration seamless for both employees and stakeholders, such as teachers, parents, and administrators. I intended to leverage the concepts of these courses to further develop a strategy toward helping students learn to their maximum potential.
Classroom discussions as always were crucial in helping me analyze my project based on the feedback of others and their unique experiences. By engaging in open and constructive conversations with my classmates, I gained insights that broadened the scope of solutions available for implementing video-based morning announcement systems into an elementary learning environment. The experiences of those directly involved in student learning from educational backgrounds, businesses, and corporations are priceless.
What lesson did I learn along the way?My biggest lesson during these courses was NEVER underestimating the power of collaboration, innovative thinking, and working towards shared goals. Throughout it, working towards common goals was always at the forefront since conversations often steered away from individual motivations and instead focused on peer feedback. In the Resourses Digital Environments course, we were assigned to groups of five with the option to collaborate with others on a single project. Unfortunately, I found myself in a catch-22. My collaboration with my assigned group didn't materialize the way I would have liked it to due to my laser focus on the collaboration project I committed to with LaTammie. My lack of an active role in working with the larger group of five classmates was both a blessing and a curse. While my ability to actively collaborate with my group was reduced during weekly discussions, I was provided more focused time with LaTammie as the development of our collaboration project to combine my video-based announcements into her project of ePortfolios materialized.
What colleagues contributed most to my learning?
As my colleagues played a vital role in helping me succeed this semester, I attribute the most recognition value to the feedback provided by Valerie and the collaboration project with LaTammie. Valerie played a integral role in providing valuable feedback to the development of the publication outline that LaTammie and I put together. LaTammie throughout the onset of the collaborative porject provided great insight into our Publication Article and Media pitch projects. Her feedback from her point-of-view from her experience working within the kindergarten student learning environments was pivotal. LaTammie's idea to merge ePortfolios into educational classrooms came packed with tonnes of research behind its effectiveness, which is why we teamed up frequently throughout the past six weeks, making great strides toward implementing plans towards including video announcements into her student's digital records. I must credit LaTammie for her enthusiasm to promote the progress of this project through tiny tweaks and constructive conversations about areas that needed improvement. She had a real knack for asking great questions about how we could improve our projects from an invaluable outside perspective.
